About Us
Marmun Mia-Mia Aboriginal Corporation supports the health and well-being of Aboriginal men.
Marmun Mia-Mia Aboriginal Corporation is an Aboriginal-controlled not-for-profit organisation based in Armadale. Our mission is to provide a culturally safe space where Aboriginal men, aged 16 and over, can connect, heal, and grow. While our primary focus is supporting Aboriginal men, our activities are not limited to them—we welcome all who share our vision of community, culture, and well-being.
We recognise that small, personal, and supportive actions are essential in building strong and caring communities. Grounded in the concept of two-way learning, we create opportunities for people to come together, celebrating and sharing Aboriginal culture at the forefront.
Community engagement is at the heart of what we do. All Aboriginal men are welcome to participate in our programs—no referral is required. We encourage connection, learning, and support through a strong community network that fosters respect, resilience, and cultural pride.
Over the years Marmun Mia-Mia has learned that to best support Aboriginal men, we must also support women, children and the community our men are connected to. While the focus is on Aboriginal men, Marmun Mia-Mia often hosts activities that is open and inclusive to all genders, ages and cultural backgrounds.
Our Brand, Our Identity
Artwork
Our artwork was designed by Noongar Artist, Chloe Calyon. The artwork symbolises the journey of men moving from one group to another, forging connections, offering support, and seeking it in return. It reflects the power of connection, shared progress, and collective growth.
It highlights the strength of working together, walking together and making the change together.
Logo
The logo is composed of an “father and child” symbol and typeset name. The symbol design represents the letter “M”, crafted to convey two concepts. Firstly, it embodies the shape of the letter “M” as the initials of Marmun Mia-Mia. Secondly, it depicts a silhouette of a father and child.
The symbol’s linear style draws inspiration from Aboriginal art paintbrush strokes. The dark green symbolises a forest, signifying growth, harmony and balance. The name is set in bold capitals, symbolising strength and confidence.
Our Values
“TREC”
Tolerance
We work with patience, openness, and acceptance to understand and respect the differences in others. We recognise that everyone comes from diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives, and find ways to connect peacefully even when there are disagreements or contrasting opinions.
Respect
We recognise the inherent worth and dignity of others through our actions, words, and attitudes. We treat people with care and fairness, regardless of their role, background, or opinions, and fostering an environment where everyone feels valued and heard.
Empathy
We harbour genuine understanding and share the feelings or experiences of others. Stepping into someone else’s shoes and responding with care and compassion. Empathy builds meaningful connections, fosters trust, and helps create a positive and supportive work environment.
Compassion
Compassion goes beyond empathy.
It’s not just understanding others emotions, but also being motivated to help or support people in meaningful ways. It involves recognising when someone is struggling and taking intentional action to support them, creating a culture of kindness and care.
Vision
Our vision is for Aboriginal men to live healthy, connected, and meaningful lives.
We see a future where everyday actions bring communities closer together, and where traditions are passed on with respect and learning. Marmun Mia-Mia aims to create lasting change by supporting the physical, mental, and spiritual health of everyone who walks with us.
Mission
We believe that to best support our men, we must also support their families, partners, children, and their community. We believe strong men come from strong families and connected communities.
Through two-way learning, we bring people together to share culture, knowledge, and traditions, fostering physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. With programs consisting of bushwalks, yarning sessions, health and well-being workshops and community health events; we create spaces for connection, healing, and growth, building a stronger future for all.
